Three new features are rumored to be on the way to Garmin smartwatches. One is related to workouts for extra data analysis, while the other two are related to the environment. As the company has yet to announce the features offically, their exact beta or public launch date remains unclear.

Garmin is expected to release three new tools for smartwatches this year: Garmin Trend, Nature Minutes and Carbon Offset. The rumored features were reported by the5krunner, crediting a source said to be close to the company named “@JW”.

The Trend tracking tool is said to use the data from your logged exercise across a wide range of activities, including running, cycling, walking and swimming. What insights the feature will offer needs to be clarified. However, a notification will likely be triggered post-workout with analysis relating to how your latest exercise compares to older data. Nature Minutes looks like a tool that logs the time you spend outside. How Garmin intends its smartwatch owners to use this feature remains to be seen.

Carbon Offset also seems to be environment related, though quite what the metric tracks is yet to be determined. Perhaps the company will suggest outdoor workouts are advantageous compared to gym workouts, which require electricity, or maybe you will be able to log the exercise you take instead of travelling by car. It is unclear precisely when the new Garmin Trend, Nature Minutes and Carbon Offset tools will arrive in beta or public updates; it has been speculated that they could arrive as early as the end of Q1.
