Garmin has pushed another update to the Forerunner 955 through its Beta Program. For context, the Forerunner 955 arrived in June 2022 alongside the Forerunner 255, a cheaper smartwatch that has also recently received a new beta update. Since then, Garmin has released a successor by way of the Forerunner 965, a current-generation model that is now running new beta firmware, too.
In the case of the Forerunner 955, Garmin has brought it onto Beta Version 18.15, its first beta update in nearly a month. While Garmin offered the latter as a Release Candidate build, Beta Version 18.15 is a standard beta update that will never reach stable status in any capacity. For reference, the new update makes the following changes to the Forerunner 955:
- Fixed backlight gesture not working in do not disturb mode.
- Fixed freeze/crash associated with trying to update weather info on invalid location data.
- Fixed slow notification updates on watch face notification data field.
- Fixed text clipping issues in activity summary page.
- Fixed various sport profile settings bugs.
According to the company's forum post, Beta Version 18.15 has reached roughly 20% of Forerunner 955 smartwatches enrolled on its Beta Program. Thus, your Forerunner 955 may not have received a notification to begin downloading the update yet. However, you can manually trigger the process by heading to Menu, System, Software Update and then tapping 'Check for Updates'.
