Rollme is selling the Hero R1 smartwatch with features supposedly including an ECG and non-invasive blood glucose measurement. Other tools include exercise tracking and Bluetooth calling. However, customers may want to consider several points before they purchase the relatively inexpensive model.

The Rollme Hero R1 Blood Glucose ECG smart watch has arrived. Based in China, the company has recently released several health-tracking wearables, including the R1 Health Smart Ring and the Hero M5 smartwatch. The new model is relatively cheap based on the available features, which may make it attractive, but there are several other factors you may want to consider.

The Hero R1 has a 1.39-inch touchscreen with a 360x360 px resolution, making it smaller than the M5, which has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display. You can adjust the brightness up to 450 nits and choose from over 100 watch faces to suit your style. As with the larger model, the R1 supposedly features an ECG sensor for early detection of health conditions like atrial fibrillation. The product page suggests you can also use the watch to track your heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, temperature and blood pressure. Another alleged feature of the smartwatch is non-invasive blood glucose measurement, with an algorithm to analyse the collected data. It is worth noting that this wearable is not certified for medical use, and the accuracy of the various sensors needs to be proven.

According to the company, a 280 mAh battery allows the watch to run for up to 15 days on standby or seven days with heavy use. Like the Hero M5, the R1 also features exercise tracking across various sports modes and Bluetooth calling via a connected phone. Multiple colourways are available, including black/gold, silver and gold. You can currently buy the Rollme R1 Blood Glucose ECG smart watch at the reduced price of $34.99; the wearable typically retails for $79.99. As we have mentioned in the past, there are a couple of flags to consider before purchasing from Rollme, such as the lack of an address for returns, and the customer service email address appears to be personal rather than professional. If you seek a smartwatch with an ECG function, you could consider the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro instead.
