New Hero M5 smartwatch boasts ECG, blood sugar monitoring and high-resolution AMOLED at a low price
The new Rollme Hero M5 smartwatch offers an impressive range of features at a low price of less than $50. It supposedly comes with ECG and blood glucose monitoring, a skin temperature sensor and many other health features.
Rollme, one of the many relatively unknown manufacturers of inexpensive wearables, is now introducing the Rollme Hero M5, a new smartwatch with a very familiar design that promises many functions despite its low price.
The Hero M5 is on offer directly at the manufacturer for just $49.99 and can be shipped to a number of countries in Europe and North America. Shipping costs are calculated during the ordering process. The smartwatch is available in black, blue and silver.
The question remains whether buying the Rollme Hero M5 is worth it. When looking at the specifications promised by the manufacturer, the question is theoretically 'yes'. However, one should be skeptical about the reliability and accuracy of the promised measurements. The Rollme Hero M5 definitely does not have medical certification.
According to Rollme, the smartwatch includes both an ECG function and the ability to non-invasively measure blood sugar levels. For the ECG function, a finger of the other hand must be placed on a sensor surface on the right side of the housing, where there is also a crown for operation. The Rollme Hero M5 also promises, among other things, the usual health functions such as heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, stress and sleep tracking, body temperature measurement and various sports modes. For the display, the manufacturer installs a 1.43-inch, round AMOLED with a resolution of 466 x 466.
I have been fascinated by technology for around 25 years – especially technology that makes life easier rather than more complicated. Mobile devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches are particularly close to my heart as is the booming subject of smart homes. I have been working in these areas for several years now as a news and reviews editor. I have been active with various websites, including the smart home blogs homee, Nuki, and siio, as well as tech portals such as Giga and TechRadar. I have been writing news and laptop reviews for Notebookcheck since 2020.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
