Garmin releases new beta update for Forerunner 255 smartwatches
Garmin has released beta software 18.15 for the Forerunner 255 smartwatch. The latest update for the wearable, which is rolling out in phases, contains a new notifications-related feature and several bug fixes.
The Garmin Forerunner 255 now has a swipe to dismiss feature that can be used on the notifications page. Plus, the company has resolved two issues that could cause the smartwatch to crash or freeze: one occurred when updating the weather while using invalid location data, and the other sometimes happened upon receipt of a notification. Several problems with sports profile settings have been fixed, as has a bug that caused a slower-than-usual notification update data on the watch face. The Garmin team has also addressed issues that caused text to be clipped on the activity summary page and a problem with the do not disturb mode
At the time of the last update, Garmin noted that the new software was available to 20% of the Forerunner 255 smartwatches enrolled on its beta program. If you are not included in this first rollout phase and wish to get the software earlier, you can use the ‘Check for Updates’ tool; however, this will only work for Wi-Fi-supported models, i.e. the Forerunner 255 Music smartwatch. Customers can sign up for the Beta Program via Garmin Connect. As always, the company asks that any bugs be reported in the dedicated section of the forum.
