It seems that Huawei is preparing to release a new fitness tracker under its 'Band' series. To recap, the company revealed the Band 8 (curr. $89 on Amazon) last April. While Huawei launched the Band 8 first in China, less than two weeks elapsed before the Band 8's global debut.
Somewhat predictably, it seems that Huawei is developing the Band 8's successor as the Band 9. Despite the Band 9 remaining officially unconfirmed for now, the likes of Lowyat have spotted a recent Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) submission in which the unreleased fitness tracker and its accompanying model number are mentioned. Please note that although a SIRIM certification does not guarantee that a device will be released, it is often one of several indications that a device's development is being finalised.
As the screenshot below shows, SIRIM categorises the 'Huawei Band 9' as a 'watch', a catch-all term that even applies to the Watch Buds, a smartwatch and earbuds crossover. Additionally, the regulatory body outlines that Huawei is developing the Band 9 under the model number 'KIM-B19'. Unfortunately, other details are unclear for now, including a release date and how Huawei will distinguish the Band 9 from its predecessors.
