Garmin brings new bug fixes and improvements to flagship smartwatches with latest update
Just over a week has passed since Garmin detailed the changes it pushed to the Fenix 7 series and its equivalents on its stable software distribution branch. For context, the company delivered its March 2024 update to the Fenix 7 series as Software Version 16.22, which it also distributed to the Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, Marq 2. Nonetheless, it has already pushed ahead with a second 17.xx build that is rolling out as Beta Version 17.12.
Building on Beta Version 17.10, Beta Version 17.12 will not reach an eligible smartwatch automatically. Instead, you must head to Menu, System, Software Update and then tap Check For Updates before Beta Version 17.12 will begin downloading. While Garmin states that it has made 27 changes, we can only find four principle changes from Beta Version 17.12.
On the one hand, the new update includes Outdoor Maps+ improvements, although Garmin does not describe what changes it has made in this regard. On the other hand, Beta Version 17.12 resolves a bug that prevented heart rate charts from showing up on some watch faces. Moreover, the new update fixes a graphing issue for primary race predictions, as well as providing undisclosed 'CIQ bug fixes and improvements'. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
