Polar announces update with new features for recent smartwatch
Polar has released firmware update 2.0.19 for the Vantage V3 smartwatch. As anticipated earlier this year, the software brings features available on the new Polar Grit X2 Pro to this older wearable. The update includes three new training metrics for various activities: vertical speed, VAM, and 3D speed.
Thanks to update 2.0.19, the Polar Vantage V3 has enhanced navigation, including automatic route syncing from Strava or Komoot. Other improvements include Breadcrumb Trails, which allows you to see which way you came, and a Navigation view, which will enable you to browse a map on your watch without starting a training session. Plus, there is an option to upgrade to faster maps, though users are warned that this will change the file format.
The change log also notes that the optical heart rate algorithm has been enhanced for greater accuracy. Other updates include a range of new watch face styles, graphs showing metrics like heart rate can now display data captured in the last ten minutes, and various bug fixes. You can update your Polar Vantage V3 smartwatch to firmware 2.0.19 via the Flow app or FlowSync on your desktop. Beginning on April 9th, it is unclear whether this is a phased rollout or if the software is already available on all wearables.
