Garmin has begun rolling out a new update to several of its popular older smartwatches. Restricted to its Beta Program for the time being, Beta 18.05 is slated to add new features while also resolving outstanding bugs. However, reported battery drain issues are likely to remain in this new update.

Nearly a month has passed since Garmin released Beta 18.02 for the Venu 2, Venu 2S and Venu 2 Plus. To recap, the company stated that the update added CIQ System 7 support, as well as 'various bug fixes and improvements'. Unfortunately, it elected against confirming what these bug fixes or improvements were.

Now, Garmin has started rolling out Beta 18.05. In a forum post, the company claims that the update should have reached 20% of Venu 2 series smartwatches enrolled on its Beta Program. Additionally, it adds that Beta 18.05 will be delivered through its Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) service. With that being said, its download can be triggered manually by navigating through the following sub-menus on your Venu 2, Venu 2S or Venu 2 Plus:

Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update

Surprisingly, Garmin's changelog for Beta 18.05 mentions the same changelog as Beta 18.02. As such, it seems that the company has not resolved the battery drain issues that various Beta Program participants have experienced since upgrading to Beta 18.02. Please see Garmin's forum post and Community Discussion forums for more details.
