Garmin has shipped a new update for the Fenix 7 series and its peers, the third so far on its 17.xx public beta cycle. Available to download now, Beta Version 17.14 features over a dozen improvements from the build that Garmin distributed earlier this month.

Garmin has returned to delivering new features to the Fenix 7 series and its peers, a week after announcing mapping improvements for the same smartwatches. This time, the company has released Beta Version 17.14, the second beta update offered this month. For context, Beta Version 17.12 debuted a fortnight ago with a handful of changes from the more considerable Beta Version 17.10.

In a forum post, Garmin notes that Beta Version 17.14 is a 'Check for Updates only' update, at least for now. Thus, you must head to the 'Check for Updates' sub-menu after navigating from the Main Menu to System and then Software Update. According to Garmin, Beta Version 17.14 makes 13 changes from Beta Version 17.12.

On the one hand, the former is said to improve Find My Phone functionality by showing the smartphone's 'friendly name'. Additionally, Garmin reports that Beta Version 17.14 refines the Messenger for Wearables compose message flow by highlighting the first contact shown in the list. On the other hand, the same update should contain the following bug fixes:

  • Fixed errant warnings about trolling motor.
  • Fixed incorrect battery estimate prior to expedition activities.
  • Fixed issue where "Lap Discarded" keeps flashing on screen after activity was saved.
  • Fixed issue where self evaluation setting would incorrectly be available for multisport activities.
  • Fixed issue where the X icon was still showing as Twitter.
  • Fixed issue where WiFi was required to delete an already downloaded Outdoor Maps+ bundle.
  • Fixed issue with auto pause speed picker.
  • Fixed issue with Outdoor Maps+ deleting layers unexpectedly.
  • Fixed possible shutdown inside the Body Battery widget.
  • Fixed potential issue where the pair phone option could be missing.
  • Fixed potential shutdown in morning report.
