Garmin has delivered a new stable update to one of its older Forerunner smartwatches. While the update does not introduce any new features, it should resolve outstanding issues associated with Garmin's Connect IQ service.

Garmin has moved the Forerunner 955 (curr. $487 on Amazon) on from its most recent stable update, Software Version 18.23. Distributed as a hotfix because of crashes that Software Version 18.22 was causing for some smartwatches, Software Version 18.23 contained no actual new features. Similarly, Software Version 18.26 focuses on making minor changes to the Forerunner 955, which is now roughly 18 months old.

Specifically, Garmin claims to have addressed a 'potential conflict' that could occur on older software when ending a USB connection between a Forerunner 955 and a Mac or PC. While the company fails to provide too many details about this issue, it claims that the bug could result in 'Connect IQ application performance degradation'. However, it is unclear from what software version this could have occurred.

Additionally, Software Version 18.26 ships with other Connect IQ 'bug fixes and improvements'. Unfortunately, Garmin has not clarified what these changes offer, either. Please note that although the new update should arrive automatically, you can trigger its download manually by navigating to the following path on your Forerunner 955:

Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates
