Garmin Forerunner 255 gets bug fixes with new stable software update
Garmin has rolled out stable software version 18.26 for the Forerunner 255 smartwatch. The update is similar to those seen for the Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955, and Forerunner 965. Users have noted that the software's changes are not noticeable in day-to-day use.
The change log notes that version 18.26 brings bug fixes and improvements relating to Connect IQ. Unfortunately, the company does not provide further details on precisely what it has enhanced. Plus, Garmin has worked to resolve a possible drop in performance for the Connect IQ app when a USB connection is broken. It is worth noting that some users have taken to the forum to report battery drain issues after upgrading to version 18.26; users flagged similar issues for the version 18.23 update. Garmin has not acknowledged these problems or indicated when customers can expect a resolution.
In a forum post, the Garmin team stated that the rollout is 100% complete, meaning all units of the Forerunner 255 smartwatch can be updated to software version 18.26. The update should be automatically pushed to the wearable when connected to your phone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Garmin is already working on the 19.xx software, with beta testing of version 19.09 underway.
