New Fitbit sleep tracking redesign slammed by Versa, Sense and Charge users
Fitbit is facing backlash from users following the recent release of a refresh for the sleep-tracking section of its app. The update began rolling out to iOS and Android users at the start of April and was designed to make navigation easier and provide further insights to users.
However, many Fitbit smartwatch and fitness tracker users have posted in its forum and on Reddit complaining about the changes, with some saying that they may switch to a different wearable brand because of it. Customers feel the new layout is busy and difficult to read, with issues like muted colors making it harder to view data on the sleep graph. Other problems flagged include the lack of a dark mode, which was helpful when viewing sleep data first thing in the morning, a missing benchmark feature, and the loss of a horizontal view, which allowed you to zoom into the sleep chart.
Responding to users' comments on a Facebook post, a Fitbit team member said, "once a Fitbit app is updated, it can't be reverted to the previous version", and "there is no option to go back to the old version of the sleep summary." However, there is a separate forum post asking for the previous sleep layout to be returned, which another member of the Fitbit team has noted. Here, the team replied, "if this product feedback receives votes from other customers and gains popularity, it will be shared internally with various teams at Fitbit"; at the time of writing, the post has over 1,200 votes. Whether any changes will be made to appease these unhappy customers remains to be seen.
