Garmin releases new bug fixes to cheaper Forerunner smartwatch
Garmin has had a relatively busy month when it comes to delivering software updates for the Forerunner 255. Released almost two years ago, the Forerunner 255 has since been replaced by the Forerunner 265 and somewhat cannibalised by the Forerunner 165 (curr. $249.99 on Amazon). To recap, Garmin rolled Beta Version 19.09 before distributing Software Version 18.26 to all Forerunner 255 smartwatches.
Now, the company has published Beta Version 19.12 with several improvements over Beta Version 19.09. According to the associated forum post, Beta Version 19.12 only brings bug fixes to the Forerunner 255. Specifically, Garmin mentions four differences from Beta Version 19.09:
- Fixed invalid weather temperature values.
- Fixed intermittent Zwift heart rate monitor drop out on iOS.
- Fixed intermittent jump rope activity upload failure.
- Various bug fixes and UI improvements.
Currently, Beta Version 19.12 is said to have reached 20% of eligible smartwatches. However, it should be possible to Garmin's phased rollout process by heading to the Main Menu on your Forerunner 255, then to Settings, System, Software Update before finally tapping 'Check for Updates'. Please note that your Forerunner 255 must be enrolled on Garmin's Beta Program before the download of Beta Version 19.12 will commence.
