New Samsung Odyssey G6 gaming monitor revealed with familiar specifications at lower price point
It seems that Samsung is preparing to expand its Odyssey monitor series with a new Odyssey G6. While we cannot find any evidence on Samsung's various regional websites, Best Buy has listed the 'Odyssey G65D' seemingly as a successor to the Odyssey G65B (curr. $488.61 on Amazon). While the Odyssey G65D is not orderable yet, Best Buy has revealed specifications, promotional images and launch pricing.
Allegedly, the Odyssey G65D (LS32BG65DENXGO) will be available for $699.99, $100 less than the existing Odyssey G65B. Based on Best Buy's specifications, little actually separates the Odyssey G65D from the older Odyssey G65B at first glance. For example, both output at 1440p (2,560 x 1,440) with a 240 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the Odyssey G65D has a 1000R curvature and is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified, just like the Odyssey G65B.
Likewise, the Odyssey G65D runs Tizen and contains a small USB hub, along with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports. Confusingly, Best Buy states in some instances that the Odyssey G65D utilises an IPS panel, which would be a substantial change from the VA-based Odyssey G65B. However, it lists VA as the Odyssey G65D's panel type on its 'key specs' panel. Therefore, it is unclear at this stage how Samsung has distinguished the Odyssey G65B and Odyssey G65D. Best Buy has not shared a release date yet, although it is possible to sign up for when the Odyssey G65D becomes available.
