A new edition of Escape from Tarkov has been available to buy since yesterday - and fans are not happy about it at all. Battlestate Games is not only introducing pay-to-win options into the game, but is also breaking a promise that the developer made to players in 2016 with the Edge of Darkness edition.

On April 25, Battlestate Games released a new edition of Escape from Tarkov, which is not very popular with fans. The Unheard Edition costs $ 250 and grants access to the closed beta and a new PvE mode.

Escape from Tarkov usually has a so-called wipe with every major content patch, whereby players lose all their progress. However, owners of the Unheard Edition will not be affected by the wipes in the cooperative PvE mode, which will enable continuous progress in the game. However, this is not yet Pay to Win because the items from the cooperative PvE mode cannot be used in PvP.

In addition, owners of the Unheard Edition also receive improved abilities and can take more loot with them. Another advantage: If you have the Trader Fance at level 6, you are safe from Scav NPCs that are more than 60 meters away. They will not shoot at the player by themselves. Considering the considerable price of $ 250, it's no wonder that fans are labeling the Unheard Edition as pay to win.

Battlestate Games has broken its promise

At the release of the Edge of Darkness version published in 2016, which was the most expensive edition of Escape form Tarkov to date (most recently $ 155), Battlestate Games promised that buyers would receive access to all future content in the game. However, the cooperative, wipe-free PvE mode is not available to buyers of the EoD edition. On Reddit fans are not at all happy about this.

Battlestate Games responds to criticism

As announced on April 26 on the official X account (formerly Twitter) of Escape form Tarkov, Battlestate Games will update the EoD edition and grant owners access to the cooperative PvE mode - but only for six months.
