Escape From Tarkov creator unveils COR3, a new sci‑fi extraction shooter on Mars

Escape from Tarkov is a multiplayer extraction FPS developed by Battlestate Games, where players join raids to engage in PVPVE (player vs player vs enemy) combat with the objective of scavenging valuable loot from the raid site, set in the middle of a war between multiple factions. 

Raiders can find a wide variety of items, like firearms, armor, food, water, and various other valuables, either by searching the map or by taking them from other raiders. 

Once scavengers have gathered up enough loot, they can exit the raid mission via pre-designated extraction spots. Escape from Tarkov finally achieved a full release in 2025, and it was added to the Steam store, where it is currently rated Mixed with over 20,000 positive reviews. 

Recently, on the 1st of Feb, the original Tarkov creator, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate, teased fans about their new game, COR3, a futuristic sci-fi shooter set on Mars. The trailer shows a lone survivor walking through the ruins of a small city or town. The camera then zooms out, showing a number of these ruined towns connected by a now-destroyed highway. Continuing its zoom-out, the audience then catches a glimpse of the red planet itself, seemingly recovering from a planet-wide calamity.

Orbiting the planet is a giant space station with multiple satellites. The Camera zooms out, still, revealing a debris field surrounding the planet that looks like the aftermath of an enormous space battle. The trailer ends, shortly after showing a dead cosmonaut in a space suit, holding a gun, and a cheeky message for whoever, or whatever, killed him. 

For now, we have a simple teaser trailer that shows little gameplay, but fans of extraction shooters will feel familiar with the game's setting, and speculation has already begun among them. 

The game’s site shed a bit more light on the setting, explaining that 200 years ago, Humanity's last stand, they managed to survive total mutual destruction. Saved by an organization that refers to itself as the Core, gathered the remnants of man to “ turn back the tide of destruction” by uniting the world governments. 

The game’s revelation curiously came about just as plans for the future of Escape from Tarkov were revealed by Battlestate Games, including things like new maps, new mechanics, like shooting locks off of locked doors, and a fan-favourite collaboration with devs who made a Tarkov Parody game, Escape from Duckov.
