Deal | Another free game quietly drops on Epic Games Store outside the weekly giveaway schedule

Epic Games Store has yet to refresh its weekly free games section, but recently, there has been a change in the store's policy. This change allows developers to offer their titles as a free game, outside the weekly giveaway program.
Recently, developer DarkGoose4 offered two free games, and now Atomic Fabrik has chipped in by offering Find the Oil Racing Edition as a limited-time freebie. This non-weekly Epic Games Store giveaway, which has a retail value of $4.99, will be available until February 17, 2026.
Of course, the game itself can be best categorized as an enthusiastic indie title. Find the Oil Racing Edition is basically a fast-paced racing game that's designed around a simple premise. The main goal is to recover stolen oil by completing challenging courses as fast as possible.
Players can choose between three types of vehicles, each of which is meant to traverse specific terrains. For example, there's a high-speed supercar that can go super fast on good roads, while there's a heavy-duty monster truck for hilly terrains. Choosing the right vehicle for the landscape plays a crucial role.
Speaking of which, this current Epic Games Store free game leans heavily on environmental challenges over track-based racing. The courses are filled with sharp turns, uneven terrains, steep slopes, and rocky paths. Find the Oil Racing Edition also accommodates different playstyles by allowing players to change between three camera modes. There's partial controller support as well, with support for Xbox-compatible controllers (wired PowerA controller curr. $20.99 on Amazon).
All these may make the Find the Oil Racing Edition worth trying, but it's not the most polished racing game out there. The controls can feel a little janky, and the map isn't designed well. Some players have also noted that it doesn't run smoothly even on capable gaming setups, hinting at poor optimizations. On Steam, it has an unamusing 46% positive player rating.
Even so, considering that it's being given away as a free game, there isn't much to complain about. Check out the video below to learn more about this surprise Epic Games Store giveaway.
