New AOC gaming monitor revealed with release, specifications and pricing detailed
AOC has shared various details about the AGON PRO AG256FS, a slightly larger alternative to the AGON PRO AG246FK that it is also preparing to release. Specifically, while the AGON PRO AG246FK comes in at 24.1-inches, the AGON PRO AG256FS offers another 0.4-inches of screen space at 24.5-inches. Although only a minor visual difference, more fundamental ones do exist, including their reliances on different panel types.
Based on AOC's Russian product page, the AGON PRO AG256FS contains an IPS panel rather than the TN panel that underpins the AGON PRO AG246FK. Thus, the former should provide more stable viewing angles than the latter, albeit with a slower peak refresh rate. Specifically, the AGON PRO AG256FS delivers 178/178 viewing angles when using the CR10 metric. Moreover, it combines its 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) native resolution with a 390 Hz refresh rate, 150 Hz down on the AGON PRO AG246FK.
Also, AOC mentions 400 nits peak brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 1 ms response times, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Adaptive Sync and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies. Consequently, it seems that the AGON PRO AG256FS relies upon the same panel as the Nitro XV252QF that Acer unveiled three years ago. According to Club 386, AOC intends to begin selling the AGON PRO AG256FS in July for €449, which would make it €250 cheaper than the faster AGON PRO AG246FK.
