Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has offered insights into Apple's plans for a next-generation Watch Ultra smartwatch. Somewhat predictably, the so-called Watch Ultra 3 is expected to launch alongside new iPhone and Apple Watch Series models. As such, the Watch Ultra 3 successor should arrive in a little over four months, just as the Watch Ultra 2 (curr. $758.07 on Amazon) did last September.
Unlike the Watch X, Kuo anticipates Apple to make almost no hardware changes between the Watch Ultra 2 and the Watch Ultra 3. Thus, the pair will likely look identical, presumably with the same 1.92-inch LTPO OLED display installed too. For context, it seems that Apple has been forced to delay its rumoured 2.12-inch microLED panel because of alleged defect rates and high production costs.
With that being said, we would expect Apple to furnish the Watch Ultra 3 with the same hardware upgrades that are headed to the Watch X. Based on recent rumours, Apple will integrate a new chipset that is slated to be considerably more powerful than its recent efforts. Moreover, the Watch Ultra 3 should be capable of detecting high blood pressure and sleep apnea, among other reported improvements intended for the Watch X.
