The Huawei Watch GT 4 is receiving HarmonyOS 4.2 in a new worldwide update. This is not the only Huawei smartwatch to be updated to HarmonyOS 4.2; a similar global release for the Huawei Watch Ultimate has begun, and some Huawei Watch 4 users in China are beta testing new software with the latest OS.
Version 4.2.0.103(C00M06) brings new TriRings watch face designs to the Watch GT 4, as seen in the update for the Watch Ultimate. These display progress with your step count, moderate to high-intensity exercise and active hours. If you want to try them out, you can download them from the Watch Face Store. Another feature of the Watch GT 4 is a notification generated when the watch detects you are waking up, asking you to confirm that you want to log the event at this time. The release notes also indicate that the user experience when updating software has been improved.
As with the update for the Watch Ultimate, HarmonyOS 4.2’s headline features, such as Health Glance 2.0, are not included in this release. It is unclear whether these will arrive for the Huawei Watch GT 4 at a later date. The current update is 49.70MB in size and is expected to roll out in waves to the wearable. You can check for the software in the Huawei Health app.
