Mobvoi teases 'a new era dawns' on the eve of Wear OS 5 reveal

The TicWatch Pro 5 (curr. $349 on Amazon) is nearing its first birthday, with Mobvoi having announced the smartwatch on May 25, 2023. Arriving shortly after I/O 2023, the TicWatch Pro 5 is one of several smartwatches powered by the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1, which also underpins the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro. While both smartwatches are less than a year old, the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 debuted alongside the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 in July 2022.

Google has already confirmed that it will reveal 'the new features of Wear OS 5' during I/O 2024, which it has scheduled for May 14. With that being said, Mobvoi has only just started recruiting participants for its Wear OS 4 Beta Program, which appears to be a TicWatch Pro 5 exclusive. Nonetheless, the company has now shared a teaser of what appears to be a new smartwatch, evidence of which we embedded below.

In short, the unknown smartwatch is the spitting image of the current TicWatch Pro 5 with a slightly recessed display, a digital crown and sharp cutaways as its case tapers to its lug ends. However, the smartwatch has a different bezel design to the TicWatch Pro 5, which has a twin-textured finish. Ultimately, Mobvoi's 'new era' could be a new 'Ultra' or LTE version, which would align with previous TicWatch Pro 3 refreshes. Other details remain unknown for now, though, including a potential launch date for the smartwatch pictured above and below.
