Apple is still projected to take Meta's Ray-Bans on with augmented reality (AR) glasses of its own, just not for a few years from now. Their latest leak purports to revise that timeline somewhat, however. The tip also asserts that they will have the same display type as what might be the next Watch Ultra.

Apple is expected to expand its Vision line-up of "spatial computing" wearables with a new form-factor much more like AR glasses (like these XREAL Air 2 Pros on Amazon) than the full headset of the current Pro flagship.

The glasses might be easier on the face (if not the wallet) - and come with potentially advanced displays made of microLED rather than OLED, according to the leaker Jukanlosreve. The putative first-gen Apple Glasses (or iGlass?) might launch alongside a next-gen Watch Ultra with the same kind of screen.

Furthermore, these devices are now tipped to launch in 2026, whereas earlier leaks pertaining to the first-gen Apple glasses and future Watch Ultra pointed to delays for both devices that could extend to 2027.

Should Apple really mount a challenge to products such as the 'smart' Ray-Bans, hopefully the Cupertino giant's take can be more privacy-focused than Meta's application and its potential for creepy personal data intrusions.
