Solos AirGo Vision: New AR glasses support GPT-4o and won't cost a fortune

Solos has announced a new pair of smart glasses, the AirGo Vision, which is extremely versatile and uses powerful AI models. Specifically, users can access GPT-4o from OpenAI to obtain information about the environment.

For example, AI can be used to obtain a description of an object currently in the field of view. In the best case scenario, the image recognition then provides useful information about this object. This makes it possible, for example, to find out the price of a product right away and to find out whether the said item might be cheaper elsewhere.

The mastery of more demanding tasks should also be possible, e.g., guiding the user through activities such as cooking or other manual tasks, according to the press release. Turn-by-turn directions are also said to be a feature. 

The lens of the AirGo Vision will not only be used for image recognition, but also to take pictures. Headphones are integrated, which can be used to listen to applications, and there is an LED that can display notifications from a smartphone. A display is not available; these are AR glasses purely in terms of voice support: an overlay with visual navigation instructions, for example, cannot be placed over the real world.

Solos plans to offer the AirGo Vision this month for a price of $249. This price refers to the base model without the camera, which is very limited in terms of functionality. It is not yet clear how much the camera version with the full range of functions will cost.
