Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra revealed as future Apple Watch Ultra competitor with blood sugar monitor support rumoured
Android Headlines has offered fresh insights into Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch releases. Typically, Samsung introduces two Galaxy Watch variants annually. For example, the company announced the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic in 2021, the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro in 2022, followed by the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic (curr. $329.99 on Amazon) in 2023.
Various evidence has emerged in the last few months that Samsung has prepared three next-generation smartwatches this time around. Currently, SM-L30x, SM-L31x and SM-L70x model numbers have surfaced, with the 'x' replaced by '0' or '5' for Wi-Fi only and LTE SKUs, respectively. Additionally, it appears that the company has also developed 'SM-R86x' as some sort of Galaxy Watch FE or Galaxy Watch4 (2024). With that being said, leakers continue to disagree on the final retail name of SM-R86x.
Until now, SM-L30x, SM-L31x and SM-L70x had all been assumed to fall under the Galaxy Watch7 series. However, Android Headlines has discovered IMEI database results linking the name 'Galaxy Watch Ultra' to SM-L705F, SM-L705N and SM-L705U. Thus, Samsung may forgo its Galaxy Watch7 branding for its flagship smartwatch release this year.
Unfortunately, it remains to be seen how Samsung will distinguish the Galaxy Watch Ultra from its other Galaxy Watch smartwatches. If one previously unknown leaker is to be believed, then it may be possible to measure blood sugar levels on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, but only when worn simultaneously alongside the Galaxy Ring. As with any new leaker, we would recommend taking what they claim with a healthy amount of scepticism for the time being.
