Vivo has announced a new version of the Vivo Watch 3, which introduces an interesting new feature - ECG support. Vivo advertises a battery life of 16 days, a large, round AMOLED display, and a high-quality metal case.

The Vivo Watch 3 was originally announced last November together with the Vivo X100 Ultra, which the manufacturer unveiled today. In addition to the new camera flagship, Vivo presented a top smartwatch. The new version combines a black metal case with a black leather strap, the features of the smartwatch hardly change.

Vivo is primarily adding a new feature, namely an electrocardiogram. An ECG cycle takes 30 seconds and is primarily intended to detect heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation. Vivo has also installed a heart rate and blood oxygen sensor, which collects data around the clock, as well as an acceleration sensor and a gyroscope, allowing the smartwatch to support more than 100 sports modes. Cycle and sleep tracking round off the smartwatch's health features.

The Vivo Watch 3 has an NFC chip for contactless payment and an integrated GPS module for navigation even without a smartphone within Bluetooth range. The watch has a round 1.43-inch AMOLED display that can show over 100 watch faces, even in always-on mode. According to Vivo, the battery lasts up to 16 days in normal use, but with an always-on display and use of the integrated LTE modem, the runtime drops to three days.

Prices and availability

The Vivo Watch 3 with integrated ECG will initially only be available in China for 1,499 yuan (approx. 192 euros), making the list price 400 yuan (approx. 51 euros) higher than the model without ECG. At this price, Vivo is competing directly with the popular Huawei Watch GT 3 (approx. 290 euros on Amazon).
