Mobvoi has introduced a new TicWatch smartwatch. Previously described as a release that would mark the dawning of a new era, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is a slight refresh on its predecessor that remains adrift on Wear OS 3.

Mobovi has now elaborated on the 'new era' that it was almost upon us. Without warning, it has introduced the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro, which should be considered an evolution of last year's TicWatch Pro 5 (curr. $227.49 on Amazon) rather than an entirely new model. As such, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro utilises the same Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chipset as its predecessor.

Despite the obvious name implications, the Enduro also retains its predecessor's 628 mAh battery. However, Mobvoi claims that the Enduro somehow achieves 10 hours longer battery life under normal use. If 90-hour runtimes are not long enough, then switching to Mobvoi's 'Essential' mode should yield up to 45 days of battery life between charges. The Enduro features unchanged displays too, although Mobvoi has swapped Corning Gorilla Glass for sapphire crystal.

Moreover, the case itself has dropped from 12.2 mm thick to 11.95 mm while retaining a 7000-series aluminium and nylon fibreglass composite construction. On top of that, the Enduro ships with a fluoro rubber band rather than the silicone equivalent found in the original TicWatch Pro 5. The Enduro retails for $349, which is the same price as Mobvoi originally charged for its predecessor. Inexcusably, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro launches with Wear OS 3. While its competitors are running Wear OS 4, Google is only a few days away from unveiling Wear OS 5. Please see Mobvoi's website for more information.
