Japannext's new gaming monitor blends retro aesthetics with modern gaming features. It sports classic TV-inspired dials and bezels while delivering a 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.

Japannext has just released the JN-V236G180F-RETRO, a 23.6-inch gaming monitor that combines a throwback look with modern specs. Its Full HD screen takes inspiration from the chunky TVs of the '60s and '70s while still packing all the performance you'd expect for today's games—like a 180 Hz refresh rate and FreeSync support.

One distinctive feature of this monitor is its design. It's got two dials on the front of the wide right bezel, giving it that old-school TV vibe. The top dial controls the brightness and lets you pick a crosshair, while the bottom one adjusts the volume. You can also access other settings through a regular OSD menu using buttons on the back.

Despite the retro look, this monitor is all about modern gaming. The VA panel offers a solid 3000:1 contrast ratio and quick 1ms response time (GTG/MPRT). Plus, it's got AMD FreeSync and works with PlayStation 5 at 120 Hz. For ports, you've got HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, both supporting that buttery-smooth 180 Hz refresh rate.

The JN-V236G180F-RETRO also comes with built-in 5W stereo speakers, VESA mounting (100x100mm), and several gaming modes for different types of games. You can also switch to low blue light mode for those late-night sessions, and the flicker-free design helps keep your eyes from tiring out too quickly. Color-wise, it covers 90 percent of sRGB and 80 percent of DCI-P3, with a max brightness of 300 nits.

Japannext plans to release the JN-V236G180F-RETRO this Friday for around JPY30,000 (about $200). It's a bit hard to get in the U.S., but it will be available in several European countries, such as France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
