HP isn't known for its gaming computers outside of the HP Omen brand, although, the HP Envy TE01-5100t sure makes a strong case for itself, thanks to its relatively powerful components. Now, seemingly in an attempt to clear stock ahead during the holiday season, HP has slashed the price on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060-powered version of its mid-tower performance PC.
The creatively named HP Envy TE01-5100t has all the trappings of a gaming PC, despite being stuffed into a rather minimalist case typical of HP's Envy brand. At the time of writing, the HP Envy desktop PC is discounted by 29%, although only in its RTX 4060 variant.
HP Envy TE01-5100t key specifications:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F (10c/16t; 6 p-cores, 4 e-cores), 65 W TDP
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4-3200, dual-channel
- Storage: 512 GB PCIe NVMe
- PSU: 400 W 80 Plus Gold certified PSU
- Wireless connectivity: Realtek Wi-FI 6 2×2 and Bluetooth 5.3 built-in
- Rear I/O: 4 × USB 2.0 Type-A; 1 × audio-in; 1 × audio-out; 1 microphone; 1 RJ-45
- Front I/O: 1 × USB Type-C at 5 Gbps; 2 × USB Type-A at 10 Gbps; 2 × USB Type-A at 5 Gbps; 1 × 3.5 mm combo audio jack
Ultimately, the Envy desktop isn't going to be the highest-performance gaming PC around, but the RTX 4060 and Core i5-14400F should complement each other well. It also has enough RAM and storage to get most people up and running, especially if they're newer to PC gaming and don't have a massive game library to install.
The only major caveat to the HP Envy desktop is that, although the PC's GPU is technically upgradeable, there may be issues if you decide to use a higher power GPU, since the 400 W PSU is already right on the edge of acceptable. The good thing here is that HP appears to use standard 24-pin power connectors on the Envy's motherboard, meaning a simple PSU upgrade should be possible further down the line, too.
