The Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G61SD) is a 27-inch OLED gaming monitor in the mid-range category, which has now reached one of its lowest prices ever as the South Korean manufacturer is offering a steep 34% discount on the good-looking 1440p screen with 240Hz.

It was not too long ago that decent OLED gaming monitors from well-known brands started at prices around $1,000 or above. Fortunately for PC gamers, this is no longer the case, which is illustrated by a new sale for the Samsung Odyssey G6 OLED, which has received a notably steep discount for the holiday shopping season.

To be more exact, this 1440p OLED gaming monitor deal is exclusively available in the official Samsung Shop app for iOS and Android. This is where bargain hunters can now grab the 27-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (model G61SD) for $519 including free shipping.

This sale offers a steep discount of $280 or 34% in comparison to the more or less reasonable list price of $799. The Samsung Odyssey OLED 1440p gaming monitor ships for free, but delivery estimates vary by location and might be after Christmas day in some cases.

In addition to the usual OLED features such as inky blacks and near-infinite contrast ratios, the Samsung Odyssey G6 sports a QHD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels as well as a high refresh rate of 240Hz, which is particularly suitable for action-rich shooters or even esports games. Like all OLED gaming monitors, response times should also be practically instantaneous and the DCI-P3 color space is fully covered.

According to the official spec sheet, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 has a typical brightness of 250 nits. That number should refer to the SDR brightness, and we expect the 27-inch monitor to get a little bit brighter than that in HDR mode.

Anyhow, OLED gaming monitors still suffer from stuttering when VRR technologies like AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync are used, and burn-in is still a possibility as well. In the end, a 27-inch 1440p OLED gaming monitor is certainly not the perfect choice for all PC gamers, but buyers who can live with the aforementioned downsides might want to take a closer look at this deal for the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6.

As a sharper 4K OLED alternative, more demanding gamers might want to consider the larger 32-inch MSI MAG 321UPX QD-OLED, which currently retails for $832 on Amazon.
