BenQ has unveiled the MOBIUZ EX381U, a new gaming monitor that is said to be built around the same display as last year's ASUS ROG Swift PG38UQ. Not only has BenQ confirmed various hardware specs, but it appears to have outlined an official launch date too.

BenQ does not introduce new MOBIUZ gaming monitors all that often. For example, the company has only released the MOBIUZ EX321UX this year. However, it appears that could soon change.

As the likes of DisplaySpecifications have noticed, BenQ has now revealed information about the MOBIUZ EX381U, which the website believes is based around a panel sourced from AUO. Although we have not been able to confirm that ourselves, DisplaySpecifications adds that the MOBIUZ EX381U shares its 38-inch panel with last year's ASUS ROG Swift PG38UQ (curr. $849 on Amazon).

At any rate, BenQ states that the MOBIUZ EX381U has a 37.5-inch IPS panel that delivers a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) native resolution with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms GtG response times. On top of that, BenQ rates the monitor for 600 nits peak brightness and claims that it is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, despite not featuring any Mini LED local dimming zones.

Additionally, the MOBIUZ EX381U covers 98% of the DCI-P3 colour space and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to mitigate image tearing. While BenQ has not confirmed launch pricing yet, it has hinted that it intends to release the monitor by September 30 in the US. Incidentally, the company has not disclosed release pricing yet, although Direct Dial in Canada has priced the MOBIUZ EX381U at CAD$1,328 (~$961), CAD$277 (~$200) less than it charges for the MOBIUZ EX321UX. Thus, we imagine that the MOBIUZ EX381U will retail for roughly $999.99 when it launches in the US next month. For reference, the MOBIUZ EX381U contains the following ports:

  • 1x 3.5 mm jack
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4
  • 2x HDMI 2.1 (1x eARC)
  • 3x USB Type-A (4.5 W Power Delivery/USB 3.2 Gen 1/5 Gbps)
  • 1x USB Type-C (90 W Power Delivery/DisplayPort Alt Mode/Data)
  • 1x USB Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1/5 Gbps/Data only)
  • 1x USB Type-C (7.5 W Power Deliver/USB 3.2 Gen 1/5 Gbps)
