Dasung Paperlike Color 12: Monitor with color E Ink touchscreen is compact and now available worldwide
The Dasung Paperlike Color with a screen diagonal of 12 inches is now available. The model, which was announced a few months ago, offers a very high resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 and therefore a high level of sharpness, particularly in view of its relatively small size. As is usually the case with color E Ink screens, this figure likely refers to the black and white display, which is probably only half as large in color mode. A Kaleido 3 Color E Ink screen is installed, meaning that the panel is still easy to read in relatively bright sunlight, but the refresh rate is low compared to typical monitors with an LED or OLED.
The display, which also has a front light, is a touchscreen, which means that a mouse and keyboard do not need to be used, depending on the usage scenario. There are six buttons on the side which can be used to adjust the contrast or playback mode. The selected mode determines the refresh rate, meaning that, at best, animations or cartoons can also be displayed.
According to the manufacturer, the 439 gram monitor is at least 5.3 mm thick and the screen can also be accessed on some smartphones. This should be possible on most Android smartphones with an image output function. On iPhones, for example, only image display without touch function is supported, if at all. The PL120CFT can only receive image signals via USB-C.
The model is offered directly by the manufacturer for $849. Shipping, whether standard or expedited, costs between $1-3 and should be possible in most parts of the world.
