PocketBook InkPad Eo launches with color E Ink display, Android and stylus
The PocketBook InkPad Eo is an e-reader based on a 10.3-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 panel, which reaches a resolution of 2480 x 1860 with a pixel density of 300 PPI when displaying grayscale; when displaying colors, the resolution drops to 1240 x 930 pixels, i.e., 150 PPI. In this mode, the panel can display up to 4096 colors.
As is usual with E Ink, the display consumes very little power and remains perfectly legible in direct sunlight. The 'SMARTlight' in front of the screen ensures that it is illuminated in either warm white or cool white so that the tablet can be used at night. The stylus supplied is said to be perfect for taking handwritten notes. Android 11 is installed, which also supports third-party apps.
The manufacturer primarily advertises e-reader apps, as the device has an unspecified eight-core processor with only 4 GB of RAM. It also has 64 GB of flash memory, which can be expanded with a microSD memory card. The 7 mm thin, 470 gram tablet has integrated stereo speakers as well as Bluetooth, a rear camera, Wi-Fi and USB-C for charging the battery, although the manufacturer does not provide any information about the battery life.
Price and availability
The PocketBook InkPad Eo e-reader can now be pre-ordered for EUR 569 on the manufacturer's German website, with delivery expected to begin towards the end of April. Information about a global launch is still pending.
