BOOX Note Air3 launches as a monochrome-only e-reader with style
BOOX' new version of the Note Air3 is more of a classic e-reader than its C variant, as it drops color reproduction support for a black-and-white (B&W) e-ink screen. Accordingly, the OEM suggests that this might be preferable for users who would like a more 'traditional' reading or writing experience.
Accordingly, its 10.3-inch Carta 1200 display is rated for a 227 PPI pixel density and "close-to-paper" feel. Nevertheless, it still has BOOX' "game-changing" Smart Scribe feature touted to boost note-taking (or annotating) activities by "refining" shapes or lines drawn, converting hand-writing to text or helping users erase mistakes.
On that note, the plain Note Air3 OS is based on Android 12, although it still supports 17 different e-reader formats and supports functions such as split-screen functions, not to mention apps and custom BOOX tools such as Onyx Cloud.
The e-ink device is also backed to be extra portable and comfortable to hold with a wide grip integrated into a "premium aluminum shell" just 5.8mm high. The Note Air3 is available only from BOOX for now at $399.99 with a free magnetic case and spare tips for its stylus, whereas the Air3 C can also be ordered on Amazon for its starting price of $499.99.
