Lenovo USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock presented with 100 W USB PD charging and dual 4K display connectivity
Lenovo has presented various new laptops today, including the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (Gen 9) and two sizes of the IdeaPad Pro 5i. Adjunct to these is the USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock, an accessory that Lenovo has designed for those 'who work both onsite and remotely'. In other words, the accessory is a compact USB dock that should be small enough to slip into a bag.
Not tied to a particular laptop brand, the USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock has a cable management system that should protect its USB Type-C cable in transit. While it is unclear whether this cable is replaceable, it wraps around a plastic element that serves as the dock's bottom plate and contains a cut-out within which the USB Type-C cable can sit or be removed.
Ports wise, Lenovo has included single DisplayPort and HDMI ports for outputting to a pair of 4K monitors simultaneously. Please note that Lenovo has not confirmed whether this is 4K/60 FPS or 4K/30 FPS simultaneously. Either way, the dock also has an Ethernet port, as well as a pair of USB Type-C ports and a single USB Type-A connection.
Although Lenovo has announced the USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock today, it will not be available until late Q1 2024 at the earliest. On the one hand, the company reports that the dock will reach the US in March 2024, where it will retail for $109.99. On the other hand, Lenovo will hold the USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock back until April 2024 for Europe. However, the dock will carry an €89 MSRP in the Eurozone, making it slightly cheaper than its US counterpart.
