AYANEO Pocket Air: New Android 12 gaming handheld now orderable with 5.5-inch AMOLED display from US$279
AYANEO is now selling the Pocket Air, its first Android-based gaming handheld. As we have discussed previously, the Pocket Air relies upon Android 12 that AYANEO has overlaid with its AYASpace and AYAHome software. In short, the Pocket Air features the following hardware within its 224 x 89.5 x 17 mm and 380 g housing:
- 5.5-inch AMOLED display, 1080p/60 Hz
- LPDDR5 RAM
- UFS 3.1 flash storage
- 7,350 mAh battery
- Fingerprint scanner
- 3.5 mm jack
- USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port
- USB Type-C port for charging
Additionally, AYANEO has included hall-sensing joysticks and hall triggers, theoretically eliminating input errors that can occur with other joystick and trigger solutions. Moreover, the Pocket Air has an x-axis linear motor and dual six-axis gyroscopes. For some reason, AYANEO has not released the rumoured Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variant of the Pocket Air. Instead, the device is only available with a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, which also brings Bluetooth 5.2, LTE and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The Pocket Air is orderable now for US$279 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Please note that this is Early Bird pricing, for which AYANEO will sell 100 units before raising prices to US$299. Alternatively, the Pocket Air can be purchased with two other memory configurations that we have listed below. At the time of writing, AYANEO hopes to begin shipping Pocket Air units later this month; please see its Indiegogo campaign page for more details.
