Onyx has opened pre-orders for the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro in the US, less than two weeks after unveiling the 10.3-inch E-reader. To recap, the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro builds on the BOOX Tab Ultra C in a few areas, including RAM and storage upgrades, plus the adoption of a newer Android version. For some reason, Onyx has pre-installed Android 12 on the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro rather than a newer equivalent like Android 13 or Android 14.
Additionally, the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro features UFS 3.1 flash storage, which should provide significantly higher read and write speeds than the UFS 2.1 found in its predecessor. Onyx continues to include 128 GB of storage though, with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM now offered instead of 4 GB. Moreover, the BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro has a more powerful octa-core chipset with a 40% higher peak clock speed, which should combine with the additional RAM to deliver a snappier user experience.
Conversely, Onyx has included a 4,600 mAh battery, a 27% downgrade from the 6,300 mAh cell in the BOOX Tab Ultra C. The BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro retails for US$649.99 and will ship with a complimentary magnetic protective case, a stylus and replacement stylus tips. However, Onyx sells a magnetic keyboard cover separately, which costs US$149.99 and has a 5-row keyboard with a built-in trackpad.
