Tesla opens Cybertruck delivery event raffle for release date
Tesla will be delivering its inaugural electric Cybertruck pickup at a grand launch event that it pegged for November 30, about two months after the deadline that Elon Musk scheduled in the spring. To let its shareholder come and celebrate the Cybertruck's release date with the company, Tesla has opened a dedicated delivery event attendance website.
There, those stock owners who have been Tesla shareholders towards September 30 - the end of Q3, or Elon Musk's self-imposed Cybertruck release date deadline that came and went - can take part in a lottery.
The Cybertruck event ticket raffle deadline is Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:59 PM Central Daylight Time and Tesla says that they "expect to begin communicating selections during the week of November 6, 2023."
To maximize fairness, we are conducting a random drawing to determine shareholders’ eligibility to attend. Shareholders with active shares as of September 30, 2023 may apply. To apply, verify your shareholdings by uploading evidence of your Tesla stock ownership as of September 30, 2023 (no other date will be accepted) on our shareholder dashboard in one of the accepted formats with your name included.
The Cybertruck has been running behind schedule for a good while now, as Elon Musk clarified at the last earnings call that Tesla shot itself in the foot with the unorthodox choice of a build material - stainless steel - and the sheer "newness" of the platform that took time to get right.
He now only expects that Tesla will be able to make enough Cybertrucks to meet demand - 250,000 units annually - about 18 months after the November 30 Cybertruck release date.
Those initial Cybertruck batches will thus indeed turn out precious when it comes to testing how the official Cybertruck specs match Tesla's pricing when those heretofore mysterious pieces of info are revealed on November 30.
