Cybertruck comes shotgun-tested from the factory as Elon Musk lets Joe Rogan shoot it with a compound hunting bow ↺
Elon Musk disclosed that the Tommy gun whose pockmarks were spotted recently on a Cybertruck, is just one of the weapons that the pickup's tough body has been tested with. Apparently, the Cybertruck also underwent shotgun "demonstrations," as well as efforts to pierce its sides with 9 mm and .45 ACP munitions to a surprising advantage of the 9 mm before the Automatic Colt Pistol bullets.
All of those shooting tests, however, failed to pierce the 30x cold-rolled stainless steel body of the Cybertruck, including the shotgun one, which made Elon Musk announce proudly that "it comes that way from the factory." The Cybertruck weapon test revelation, given during Elon Musk's Joe Rogan Experience interview, gave his host some food for thought, and he immediately mentioned that he has a compound bow he'd like to try on the electric pickup.
"Be my guest," answered Elon, and the ever-dynamic duo went into the studio's parking where Joe Rogan tried to pierce the Cybertruck's body with broadhead arrows to no avail, as these are designed to go through soft tissues rather than metal. Tesla is sourcing the stainless steel for the panels of the Cybertruck from the Finnish company Outokumpu which is tailoring its manufacturing process to the peculiar requirements of the electric pickup's design.
The crafting process is rather novel and cumbersome, said Elon Musk, so much so that he now only expects Tesla to be able to make about 17,000 a month when production is fully scaled some time in mid-2025. At least the future owners of the Cybertruck will know that regular bullets and arrows have nothing on its stainless steel design.
