BOOX has chosen the name Go for its latest line of e-paper tablets in order to emphasize their extra-light and thin nature. The devices are also only 375 grams (g) at the most (in the 10.3 variant) to further enhance their "minimalist appeal".
As its name suggests, the larger Go-series tablet has a 10.3-inch display, based on BOOX' HD Carta 1200 glass touchscreen technology. It is 2480 x 1860 (or 300 pixels per inch (ppi)) in resolution, and supports a complimentary stylus for jotting down one's thoughts on the go.
It is also strictly monochrome, however, whereas its 7-inch sibling has a 1240 x 930 (150ppi, or 300ppi in black and white) Kaleido 3 e-paper display for "soft, mellow hues" rated for reduced ghosting and blurring thanks to BOOX' advanced refresh rate tech.
Then again, the 10.3 is the thinner tablet at just 4.6 millimeters (mm) high compared to 6.4mm in the Go Color 7 - even though it also has the larger battery, with a rated capacity of 3,700mAh as opposed to 2,300mAh in the 7.
On the other hand, the Color 7 has more potentially reading-friendly features such as the physical page-turning button, found alongside the enlarged border for easier grip in either orientation. It also has a front light, whereas the 10.3 ditches that whole layer of the screen for its increased slimness.
Both tablets run Android 12 using the same unnamed 2.4GHz platform, have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
They also both support dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, although the Go 7 is the only new BOOX tablet with a microSD card slot. Then again, the user would have to use the USB-C port on either new slate for wired audio, due to the absence of any 3.5mm jacks.
The Go Color 7 can be ordered from now via BOOX or Amazon for $249.99, whereas the 10.3 is available to pre-order for $379.99. Both new tablets come with a free magnetic case when purchased directly through BOOX at the time of writing.
