Onyx Boox Leaf 3C has a color E Ink display, Android and the look of the Amazon Kindle Oasis

The brand new Onyx Boox Leaf 3C is a new variant of the Leaf 3, which has received one upgrade in particular: a color display. Specifically, a 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 panel is installed, which reaches a resolution of 1680 x 1264 and can display 16 shades of gray and 4096 colors at the same time. If colors are displayed, however, the pixel density drops from 300 PPI to 150 PPI.

Thanks to the colors and perfect readability, even in bright sunlight, the Boox Leaf 3C is not only ideal for books, but also for comics, anime and magazines that benefit from the display of colors. A front light also allows you to read comfortably in the dark. The design is strongly reminiscent of the Amazon Kindle Oasis; the wide edge on one side is intended to make one-handed holding of the e-reader more comfortable, while the button allows for easy page-turning.

Thanks to Android 11, any e-book or magazine app can be installed. The e-reader has an unspecified Qualcomm processor, which is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory, of which the latter can be expanded via a microSD memory card. The 2300 mAh battery in tandem with the extremely economical display is said to ensure at least 20 days of battery life. Charging takes place via USB-C.

Prices and availability

The Onyx Boox Leaf 3C will initially be launched in China for 1789 yuan (approx. $249). The manufacturer has not yet confirmed any details about an international launch.
