CES 2024 | Lenovo ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 launched as world's first 13-incher with 74 WHr battery, ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE with E ink cover display prototyped
Lenovo is introducing several new offerings at CES 2024 targeting small and medium businesses (SMBs). Although Lenovo skipped the ThinkBook 13x Gen 3, the OEM is now offering the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4, which it touts to be its first carbon-neutral laptop in this segment.
The ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 weighs just 1 kg and is measures only 12.9 mm thick. is powered by Intel Meteor Lake processors and can be configured with up to 32 GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to a 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Lenovo equips the ThinkBook 13x Gen 3 with a 13.5-inch 120 Hz 2.8K display with 500 nits brightness, 100% sRGB coverage, and Dolby Vision support. Buyers can optionally configure a touch panel as well.
Lenovo goes all Thunderolt 4 (3x) with the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 sans any Type-A ports. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 enable seamless wireless networking. A FHD webcam with IR supports Windows Studio Effects for collaboration. In addition to the NPU found in the Meteor Lake chip, the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 also includes an LA3 AI chip for optimally adjusting system performance and battery life. The laptop also offers pogo pins to attach the new Magic Bay Studio 4K camera.
The ThinkBook 13x Gen 4's 74 WHr battery is the largest in a 13-inch laptop, according to Lenovo. The company says that this enables the laptop to achieve up to 21 hours of video playback, 11.4 hours of web browsing, and 8.2 hours of video conferencing.
The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 will be available from Q1 2024 in Luna Grey and a limited edition patterned Seashell color starting from US$1,399.
Additionally, Lenovo also showcased a proof-of-concept device, the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE (Smart Personalization Experience). The ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE boasts a customizable E-ink top cover that allows users to change the exterior color and pattern of the laptop using Lenovo’s hardware and software algorithms and E ink Prism technology.
The SPE supports display up to 1,000 patterns on the cover. Lenovo says that the SPE cover's E ink tech won't have any impact on battery life and can keep rotating the designs even when the laptop is powered off. The company is showing off four design schemes at CES 2024 including two colors, dynamic clock, and multi-system interaction.
