CES 2024 | 2024 Razer Blade 14 gets massive generative AI boost with the Ryzen 9 8945HS starting at $2200
Razer is kickstarting the new year by refreshing its Blade 14, Blade 16, and Blade 18 lineup with brand new configurations. Due to the unique AMD+Nvidia design of the Blade 14 series, however, the 2024 Blade 14 will not be getting any of the Raptor Lake Intel CPUs or fancy new display options that the 2024 Blade 16 and Blade 18 models will enjoy. Instead, the 14-inch gaming laptop will be getting the Zen 4 Ryzen 9 8945HS CPU to replace the Ryzen 9 7940HS on the 2023 model.
The newer AMD CPU promises accelerated AI to aid in apps that support generative AI tasks such as DaVinci Resolve or Photoshop. Otherwise, raw computational performances from the CPU and integrated Radeon 780M GPU are expected to be about the same as the older Ryzen 9 7940HS.
Everything else about the 2024 Blade 14 remains unchanged including the GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, chassis design, and set of display options up to 240 Hz 1600p IPS. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as last year's Blade 14 was already one of the sleekest and most power-packed 14-inch gaming laptops in the market, but users who were holding out for more significant GPU upgrades may be disappointed by the 2024 changes.
The new Blade 14 will become available on January 23 for a starting price of $2200 USD for the RTX 4060 configuration similar to the 2023 Blade 14. Both Mercury White and Black colors are expected with no word on any Pink options.
