RedMagic has started selling a new 27-inch gaming monitor that sports 5,088 local dimming zones. As such, the so-called RedMagic 5088 Partition delivers an impressive 1,400 nits peak brightness, which it complements with a 160 Hz refresh rate and a 4K native resolution.

RedMagic is now selling the 5088 Partition, nearly a month after unveiling the gaming monitor alongside the larger and QD-OLED-based Realm. To recap, the 5088 Partition utilises an AU Optronics (AUO) 7.0 panel with 5,088 Mini LED backlight zones. Thus, while the monitor shares its size and panel type with countless other gaming monitors, the volume of its local dimming zones ensures a higher peak brightness and a richer contrast ratio.

Specifically, the 5088 Partition is said to output at up to 1,400 nits when viewing HDR content, for which it has received VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification. Currently the highest of VESA’s non ‘True Black’ certifications, VESA DisplayHDR 1400  should also ensure 3.5x higher dynamic contrast ratios than VESA DisplayHDR 100 certified monitors. In the 5088 Partition’s case, RedMagic promises a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, with no static equivalent given.

Moreover, the monitor delivers 99% Adobe RGB, DCI-P3 and sRGB colour space coverages. Furthermore, RedMagic states that the Partition 5088 operates natively at 4K (3,840 x 2,160) with a 160 Hz refresh rate, which the company complements with various video and USB ports, including a USB Type-C connection that supports 90 W Power Delivery. Currently, the Partition 5088 remains a Chinese exclusive and retails for CNY 5999 (~$847). While RedMagic has not confirmed global availability yet, it has previously released gaming monitors outside its home market.
