New Samsung ViewFinity S9 ultra-wide monitor presented with 1440p resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and ambient light sensor
Samsung has expanded the ViewFinity S9 series with the S49C954U, a monitor that the company also simplifies to the S95UC. For context, the ViewFinity S95UC succeeds the ViewFinity S9U that debuted in 2021. Despite a significant time gap existing between the pair, it appears that little has changed hardware-wise.
According to Samsung's technical data, the ViewFinity S95UC retains its predecessor's 49-inch VA panel. As such, the new monitor outputs at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels in a 32:9 aspect ratio and with a 1000R curvature. Additionally, the panel delivers up to 350 nits peak brightness with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification while maintaining a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, plus 92% and 115% coverages of the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces, respectively. Moreover, the ViewFinity S95UC combines its 1440p resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate but 5 ms GtG response times.
Elsewhere, the monitor possesses DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0 and USB Type-C ports for connecting external devices. For reference, the latter supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and can recharge a laptop, tablet or smartphone at up to 90 W. Furthermore, Samsung has included three USB ports and a KVM switch, as well as 5 W stereo speakers, an ambient light sensor and an adjustable stand. Currently, the ViewFinity S95UC is exclusive to South Korea, where it sells for KRW 1.49 million (~$1,142). With that being said, Samsung tends to sell its monitors globally, with nothing suggesting that this will not also apply to the ViewFinity S95UC as well.
