LG UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB: New curved OLED gaming monitor revealed as UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE successor
LG has presented the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB, one of two successors to last year's UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE. Described as a strong performer in LG's press release, the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB sports an 'UltraWide QHD panel' with an 800R curvature and built-in speakers. In other words, the monitor outputs at 3,400 x 1,440 pixels with a 21:9 aspect ratio, both of which the 45GS96QB shares with a few other new UltraGear OLED monitors.
While LG has not provided too many details about the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB's speakers, it claims that they help to create 'realistic visuals and sound'. To that end, the monitor also has a 240 Hz native refresh rate, 98.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 0.03 ms GtG response times aided by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies.
Meanwhile, behind the 44.5-inch panel sits a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection and a 3.5 mm jack (4-pole). Furthermore, the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB will ship with a USB Type-C port that can recharge connected devices at up to 65 W. Thus, while the USB Type-C port does not operate on the Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 standards, it should still support DisplayPort Alt Mode. Please see LG's press release for more details.
