MagyarDukeBox: LG unveils retro-futuristic jukebox with vacuum tubes and transparent OLED display
LG has the tradition of expanding its own mass-market range to include peculiar niche products, such as the LG ShoeCase. In the run-up to CES 2024, the South Korean technology giant has given a taste of some of the projects that will be exhibited at the trade show this year.
This year's highlight is the LG DukeBox, a newly designed jukebox that packs a tube amplifier with two vacuum tubes behind a transparent OLED display whose transparency can be freely adjusted. This preserves the charm of the flickering tubes, while the screen can display information about the track being played.
The display is intended to make the DukeBox particularly versatile, as films or effects such as a digital fireplace can also be displayed. LG has installed front-facing speakers under the display and a 360-degree tweeter on the top to provide more spatial sound. LG Labs has also announced a new version of Bon Voyage, a 2-meter wide, 3.8-meter long trailer that can be equipped with a bed, refrigerator, stove and water filter for camping trips.
With Duobo, LG Labs has also developed a coffee machine that can process two different capsules at the same time; the design of this machine will not be unveiled until CES. More details on these products are expected at CES in the coming days, but LG is yet to confirm whether the aforementioned appliances will be made available for the mass market.
