RedMagic 9 Pro Plus Bumblebee Edition debuts as latest Transformers collaboration
Now that the traditionally 'gamery' RedMagic flagship smartphone design has reached what might be full maturity in 2024 with the world's best-hidden front and rear cameras, you might think the brand might leave lighter-hearted things like Transformers Limited Editions behind. However, you'd be wrong, as the 9 Pro series has just gained a new variant.
The brand once again takes inspiration from the licensed character Bumblebee, thereby giving rise to what is probably the only version of the 9 Pro+ with a black and yellow finish for its extremely streamlined rear panel.
Its specs are the same as those of a standard unit with 16GB of RAM and 512GB otherwise. Then again, the smartphone normally doesn't come with a matching cooler and a case as well as its own (also Bumblebee-branded in this case) 165W GaN USB-C charger, not to mention additional keepsakes such as an on-theme badge and SIM card pin.
Those contents are found in an equally custom retail box that goes for 6,499 yuan, or ~$900 - which is still cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra it most resembles as listed on Amazon today (March 29, 2024). However, as this new Limited Edition is based on the China-exclusive 9 Pro+, it is not likely to see international availability any time soon.
