CES 2024 | MSI MPG 491CQP showcased with 49-inch, 1440p and 144 Hz QD-OLED panel

MSI has finally shared full details for the MPG 491CQP QD-OLED, two months after unveiling it alongside several other MAG and MPG-branded QD-OLED gaming monitors. For reference, MSI has also showcased these monitors at CES 2024, which are as follows:

• MAG 271QPX QD-OLED
• MPG 271QRX QD-OLED
• MAG 321UPX QD-OLED
• MPG 321URX QD-OLED
• MAG 341CQP QD-OLED

As for the MPG 491CQP QD-OLED, it appears to share the same panel that ASUS and Philips use in the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD and Evnia 49M2C8900, respectively. Thus, MSI's new monitor outputs at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels (DQHD) with a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the 49-inch panel has an 1800R curvature, matching the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED. Moreover, the former should deliver 250 nits full surface brightness and 1,000 ints (APL 3%) when viewing HDR content.

At the time of writing, MSI has not confirmed pricing or availability for the MPG 491CQP QD-OLED, unlike ASUS and Philips. For context, ASUS launched the $1,499 for the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD in October. By contrast, Philips charges £1,649.99 and €2,069 for the Evnia 49M2C8900 in the Eurozone and the UK, respectively.
