Lenovo's flagship gaming laptop, the Legion 9i Gen 9, has been revealed at CES 2024. It features a mini-LED screen, up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM and the company's in-house LA3-P AI chip. It can be bought soon for $4,399.

Lenovo has unveiled its new flagship gaming laptop at CES 2024. The Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9 is packed to the brim with high-end features; hence, it comes with an equally exorbitant price tag of $4,399. Nonetheless, gamers on the lookout for a no-compromise gaming laptop will find the Legion 9i Gen 9 to their liking. It will be available for purchase in the coming days.

The Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9 features a 16-inch 3.2K (3,200 x 2,000) mini LED screen with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. It refreshes at 165 Hz and has a 3 ms response time. Additionally, it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB colour gamuts and supports Nvidia G-Sync, AMD FreeSync and Dolby Vision. It is also VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified. This should make it an attractive buy for gamers and content creator alike.

Like many high-end gaming laptops launched this time, the Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9 opts for an Intel Core i9-14900HX (and lower) Raptor Lake refresh CPUs instead of Meteor Lake. One can pair it with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 dGPU. Lenovo's in-house LA3-P chip uses the power of AI to dynamically allocate 230 Watts of available power to the CPU and GPU. That, combined with its "Smart FPS" feature, supposedly plays around with power allocations for maximum FPS output. The chip can also sync the Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9's lights with in-game activities.

Lenovo lets you configure the Legion 9i Gen 9 with up to 64 GB of DDR5 5,600 memory and a 2 TB NVMe SSD. Whether or not either component is user upgradable remains to be seen. The laptop comes with plenty of I/O, including two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ 45 Ethernet jack, a micro SD card reader and a combo audio jack.

The Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 9 is available in one colourway: Carbon Black. A RGB strip runs across its chassis, and there's a lone power button above the keyboard. It isn't the most portable at 2.56 kg (5.64 lbs), but gaming laptops seldom are. Lastly, the 99.99 Wh power battery needs a 330 Watt power brick. Alternatively, one can use up to a 130-watt USB PD charger.
